Yay for Food Pictures!

Friday 23 September 2011

I actually wanted to post yesterday but I got too caught up doing other stuff... So here's my post now to make up for it :P

Recently, I went to Yang's to have all you can eat with my parents. Here are some photos I took... (the food was awesome by the way!)

mmmmm mango ice cream :)

I would've taken pictures of my green dragon roll and avocado roll order, but I got too enthusiastic about them so I forgot :(

So far...

I just had a full first week of school. How was it?

Let's see. My Time-based class has a new professor. Maybe it's an Asian thing, but even through the fragmented English grammar, I totally get the things he says/ ideas that he's trying to convey. I think he's growing on me, haha. But here's what I had to do for the first week of class:

Hopefully it works. If it doesn't, you can always check it out through my course blog. Yet another blog, I know. But I was required to make a Wordpress blog so I had no choice. Then again, I'm not sure if I really want my class to be reading this blog. Not that it really matters. I guess I just don't think the name and purpose really suit the class, given the option was available to use any platform. Anyway, that's not really important. If you want to read up the thoughts behind that small exercise, you can see the 3-5 paragraph long explanation below, which you probably noticed by now.

Aside from Time-based, Info Des 2 and Com Des 2, I have a feeling I'll enjoy too. Not only is it because of the people that are in my class (they give off such a good vibe :D), but also because these classes have term projects instead, and I'm pretty excited for them, even if there will be a great amount of work and effort involved.

I'm also setting personal goals to try and learn new things. Things like incorporating 3D stuff in my work (because a, my dad keeps telling me to learn and b, it will add something interesting to my work that you won't normally see) and other stuff that I guess we'll just have to wait and see ;)

Design and Information Architecture, I like the professor so far, I'm just not quite sure how I really want to make my work. I mean, ya, this is web-based stuff and I've grown accustomed to it, but for some reason, this course seems blurrier (... is that even in the right context?) in terms of how I envision myself and my success compared to the other courses. Maybe I just don't have the right mindset yet? I don't know. I'll have to churn something out tonight and tomorrow night... if I find time to squeeze in after a friend's birthday dinner.

The last days of summer

Friday 9 September 2011

Recently a few(?) days ago, I saw a beautiful sunset and couldn't resist to take a picture of it. Here are a few pictures...

I couldn't help but take pictures of the flowers in my garden also... the light that was hitting off them made it look so nice and kind of sad at the same time... as if summer really was fading away.

I also went biking today. Originally I was going to Michael's to buy some glaze for a couple of cellphone charms I was requested to make, but that store ran out of stock :( Guess I'll have to buy another time. However, I did manage to buy other things. I missed having cellphone charms on my own phone, but I didn't want to have the same style of cute polymer clay cellphone charms I had last year, so I bought some stuff that I saw in the clearance aisles. I forgot to take a picture of the elements separately (I got too excited in being Dr. Frankenstein again and combining everything together!) but here are some pictures of what I concocted:

ship charm: $0.76; dark pearls & the 2 dark beads: $4.99; tassel: $5.49; circular beads with pearls in the center: $3.99; lobster claw was from a long time ago

Just the beginning

Sunday 4 September 2011

Hello!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Melody, and I'm a student in the Design program at York/Sheridan. Although I have another blog somewhere else on the internet, I made this blog solely because as the name implies, this blog is about everything else inbetween aside from design, video game/ geek interests. Ok, of course, I'll post some of that stuff too, but this is what I would consider an online... reminder and journal of my personal progress and growth, not just artistically, but spiritually and mentally as well.

I'll confess, I've always had this issue I needed to work out in my life: time management and priorities. And you know, if I set up this blog, maybe I'll be able to really stick to my personal goals to better myself. Weird way to do so, but maybe it'll work. Who knows?

So since school is coming very soon, let's start off with some goals.
1. Read more often. Whether it be geekologie, or actual books, READ.

2. Stay positive (there are some thoughts that I might want to write later on based on this...)

3. Try new materials and styles when I do my assignments at school.

4. Remember that at school, these are my projects, and even though there are requirements and such, I should have fun with them. Otherwise, I'll just feel like it's a waste of time.

5. Make the best of what you have.

6. Take better care of myself.

7. Get better in certain hobbies.
